Autokey only deal with vehicles keys and vehicle electronics, unlike our competitors who deal with all kinds of locks and security devices our main focus is vehicle immobiliser, anti-theft and vehicle entry systems. This ensures Autokey has the capability to rectify any auto electrical issues that may occur whilst a vehicle is in the diagnostics mode. We are Ireland’s only dedicated vehicle key company. We are SIMI approved and AA Certified.

With the advances in vehicle electronics and immobiliser technology over the last 10 years, Autokey has had to change and rethink its strategy. As a locksmith company serving Dublin for over 20 years, we have decided to move away from the mechanical locksmith industry, phasing out all domestic and commercial locksmith work, and to become Ireland’s leading dedicated car keycompany. As a result, all our staff are solely focused on vehicle technology and future developments. We now have vehicle mapping, vehicle software and ECU repair capabilities.

This has meant retraining and changing our workforce, and leaning more towards the vehicle electrical and mechanical aspect of the industry. We only employ Automotive skilled, focused and experienced staff. Our workforce comprises of 2 Vehicle Master Technicians, 3 Vehicle Electronic Engineers, 3 Automotive Locksmiths, 2 Mechanics, 1 Motor Assessor and a highly experienced management team. They are all constantly taking part in continual progression and state of the art industry training so that they are always up-to-date with new developments and technologies within the Automotive Locksmith Industry.

Although today’s market would suggest that locksmiths are equipped to deal with your key coding issues, we do not share that view. Consequently, our Auto Locksmiths are fully backed up byMechanics, Electronic Engineers and several Vehicle Master Technicians. This is the way in which, in our professional opinion, key coding should be carried out.

Today’s locksmiths struggle to code keys and may not have the skills needed to carry out vehicle key coding. That can lead to problems that can cost €1000s in vehicle repair bills. The skills needed to open a vehicle door lock differ greatly from the skills needed to code a vehicle key.

The locksmith industry has not been regulated, which has led to a number of undesirable people in the Industry. These people do not possess the required skills and knowledge to carry out these refined procedures. This is a complete disregard for you and your vehicle. Attempting to carry out electronic procedures hoping for the best can result in major car problems, such as nostart and immobiliser blocked difficulties.

We regularly see vehicles brought to us where untrained locksmiths or ‘auto locksmiths’ have failed to perform the task properly and have just walked away, leaving the motorist with a car notstarting. We also carry out numerous repairs to vehicles that have software issues after motor keys were incorrectly added to the vehicle.

Most other companies in any industry will tell you that their competitors are not as good as they are, or that they have the most competitive prices. We do not denigrate others in the trade. We are confident that we will always be able to repair your vehicle, but in the highly unlikely event that we are unable to take on your job, we will advise you of the most appropriate procedure to follow and supply a backup service to advise our customers.

Seeing through the marketing hype can be difficult in the locksmith industry. Most locksmiths who are members of the ALOI, the only recognised trade association in Ireland, go about their work in an efficient and professional manner and are accountable for their conduct. When they can’t offer the service required, they will pass you to someone who can.
